Building A New Website On Shopify

Best for anyone whose primary goal is to sell products online, from small startups to businesses scaling up. It is the gold standard for e-commerce.

Pros and cons Wix website

Pros To Building On Wix

1. Extremely Fast & Easy to Use (Time)

The drag and drop editor is one of the most intuitive on the market. You can build a beautiful, functional website in a few hours without writing a single line of code. What you see on the editor is exactly what you get.

2. All-in-One Solution (Low Maintenance)

Wix handles all the technical aspects for you: hosting, security, updates, and backups. You never have to worry about your site crashing from a bad update or being vulnerable to hackers. This is a true "set it and forget it" platform.

3. Predictable Subscription Costs

Your costs are a straightforward monthly or annual subscription fee. This makes budgeting very simple because you know exactly what you'll be paying. There are no surprise costs for hosting or security plugins.

Cons To Building On Wix

1. Limited Customization & Scalability

You are locked into the Wix ecosystem. You can't export your site's code and move to another host. Deep customizations require using their Velo code platform, and you are ultimately limited by the tools Wix provides.

2. Can Become Expensive

The initial plans seem cheap, but as you need more features (e.g., e-commerce, booking tools, more storage), you must upgrade to higher-priced tiers. Costs for specialized apps from the Wix App Market can also add up monthly.

3. Slower Performance on Complex Sites

Because of the complex code that makes the drag-and-drop editor so easy, larger Wix sites with many pages and high-resolution images can sometimes load slower than optimized WordPress or Shopify sites.

Pros and cons Wordpress website

Pros To Building On Wordpress

1. Ultimate Flexibility & Control

With hundreds of thousands of themes and plugins, you can build literally any type of website. You have full access to the source code and complete control over every aspect of your site's design and functionality.

2. You Own Everything

You have complete ownership of your website files and database. If you become unhappy with your hosting provider, you can easily migrate your entire site to a new one at any time. You are not locked into any single company's platform.

3. Potentially Low Initial Cost

The WordPress software itself is free and open-source. You can get started with a cheap hosting plan and a free theme for a very low initial investment, often less than a Wix or Shopify subscription.

Cons To Building On WordPress

1. High Maintenance Responsibility

You are 100% responsible for everything. This includes finding your own hosting, performing regular backups, and updating the WordPress core, themes, and plugins. If an update breaks your site, it's up to you to fix it. Security is also entirely in your hands. Since WordPress is extremely popular, it is the main target for hacks and the easiest to hack especially when plugins become outdated.

2. Steep Learning Curve & Slower Setup

WordPress is not a simple drag-and-drop builder out of the box (though some themes and plugins add this). It takes more time to learn the dashboard, configure settings, and get your site looking the way you want. It requires a greater initial time investment.

3. Unpredictable Costs

While the core is free, costs can spiral quickly. You'll have to pay for hosting and a domain name. Premium themes ($50-$100+ one-time) and premium plugins ($50-$200+ per year) for key features are often necessary, making your total cost less predictable.

Pros and cons Shopify website

Pros To Building On Shopify

1. Best-in-Class E-commerce Tools

Everything is built and optimized for selling. You get secure payment processing, automatic tax calculation, inventory management, shipping integrations, and abandoned cart recovery right out of the box. These features are robust and reliable.

2. Low Maintenance & High Security

Like Wix, Shopify is a fully hosted solution. They handle all updates, security, and hosting. This is crucial for e-commerce, as they also manage PCI compliance to ensure your checkout process is secure. This saves you enormous technical headaches.

3. Fastest Way to Start Selling

You can have a fully functional, professional-looking online store ready to accept payments in a single day. The setup process is streamlined and guides you through adding products, setting up payments, and choosing a design

  • The process involves several key steps: Designing Your Website Brand (choosing a logo, colors, and fonts), determining the UX/UI Layout based on your target audience, Gathering Content (including configuring photos), Choosing a Platform (Wix, WordPress, or Shopify), conducting Keyword Research, building the site, and finally Launching A Website with proper connections to Google Search tools.

  • Yes, our service is focused on the foundation of great UX/UI, Keyword research, gathering data and SEO success. Search Engine Optimization for new websites is about making sure your website is indexed and easy for crawl bots to scan your entire website. Crawl bots read the foundational code like H1, H2, H3, meta data and rich snippet data description. We handle keyword research, design the site for optimal ranking, and connect essential tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console so your new website can be properly indexed and begin ranking immediately.

    • Wix is best for beginners and small businesses seeking an easy, low-maintenance solution that can be built quickly.

    • WordPress offers ultimate flexibility and control and is best for content-heavy sites, bloggers, or businesses that need full ownership and the ability to scale and customize extensively.

    • Shopify is ideal for anyone whose primary goal is to sell products online, offering best-in-class e-commerce tools and high security with low maintenance.

    • Wix offers the most predictable subscription costs (monthly/annual fees), which is great for strict small business budgeting. However, keep in mind that fees for premium apps, advanced features, or higher-tier plans can increase these costs over time.

    • WordPress has a potentially low initial cost because the core software is free. However, the total cost is often unpredictable, as you must budget separately for hosting, domain name, and necessary annual fees for premium themes and plugins, which can quickly add up.

    • Shopify starts at $29 but if you require another individual to have access to shopify for marketing, keywords or product updates. Then you will require the grow plan starting at $79. The base subscription plans are generally higher than Wix's equivalent e-commerce plans.

    • Pros - Full Ownership & Infinite Scaling: You own all files and data, can move hosts anytime, and have unlimited customization potential to adapt to any business model.

    • Cons - Security & Maintenance is 100% Your Responsibility: Requires constant core, theme, and plugin updates. A broken update or security lapse can crash your site and is on you to fix.

    • Pros - Unmatched Ease and Speed for building a new website. The intuitive drag-and-drop editor allows non-technical owners to launch a professional site in a few hours without needing a developer. Wix has some of the strongest AI queries and AI traffic data as of 12/10/2025. Wix allows in depth data such as button clicks, contact forms and visitor information that is easily graph and accessible on the wix dashboard.

    • Cons - Vendor Lock-In and Limited Growth: You cannot easily export your site's code to switch platforms, and advanced features often require expensive plan upgrades or apps, limiting long-term scalability. Wix has attempted to address issue of large product varieties and products with repeaters but shopify is easier to build a large catalog of products in the thousands.

    • Pros - Best in Class E-commerce and Security. Shopify even has a large database of fraudulent cards and information to assist in flagging faulty shoppers. Built-in tools for inventory, payments, and shipping, plus guaranteed PCI compliance and hosting, letting you focus only on sales.

    • Cons - High Transaction Fees & Limited Content Marketing: You pay an additional transaction fee unless you use Shopify Payments, and its blogging/content features are basic compared to WordPress. Shopify is limited on data analytics unless you upgrade to $299 monthly plan (which Google Analytics does for free)

FAQ Building A New Website

Cons To Building On Shopify

1. Transaction Fees & App Costs

On top of your monthly subscription fee, Shopify charges a transaction fee on every sale unless you use their in-house "Shopify Payments." Even with Shopify Payments, you still pay credit card processing fees. The cost of specialized apps can also make your monthly bill much higher than expected.

2. Weaker for Content-Heavy Sites

While Shopify has a blogging feature, it is very basic and not as powerful or flexible as WordPress. If your primary goal is content marketing or building a site that isn't focused on selling products, Shopify is not the ideal choice.

3. Limited Customization without Code

While Shopify's themes are excellent, making significant design changes often requires knowledge of their proprietary coding language, Liquid. You have less creative freedom than with Wix's drag-and-drop or the limitless potential of WordPress. You are also locked into their platform.
